on the first of may 2020 i was even dreaming about little richard at that time – i consider this my first painting – i worked on it and reworked it until i got it right when i knew i had captured the essence of little richard the king and queen of rock and roll excited and happy i went to bed – it was friday night the ninth of may – i went to bed next thing its three in the morning and i heard then that little richard had died – he was eighty seven and had left his body in the moments i’d finished the painting i couldn’t believe it i was shocked and i got up and looked at the painting. the gloss was still wet. a few hours later i texted nick and asked if he’d heard and told him about the painting and that as i’d finished it little richard had died. murderer he said. in that / from that moment i truly knew the power of painting i’ll paint you next. paint on wood 30x30cm
